Sales Representative Resume 2026 - quota, pipeline and territory sample free

A sales representative resume is read for one number first: what percentage of quota you hit, and for how many periods in a row. Everything else on the page exists to make that number believable - the territory you carried, the segment you sold into, the CRM you kept clean, and how fast you ramped. A sales representative carries a personal number and sells; a sales manager carries a team number and coaches, which is why the two resumes should not look alike. Inside and outside roles also read differently: one is judged on call and email volume against a dialer and sequencing stack, the other on drive time, distributor relationships and face-to-face account coverage. Below is a full sample with quota lines, pipeline figures and CRM detail, plus what to do when your last territory was quiet.

Sales representative resume sample

The structure sales leaders actually scan: quota attainment in the summary, territory and segment in every job header, and pipeline numbers under each bullet.

Attainment in the first three lines

112% of a $1.4M annual quota, three years running, told at the top. A hiring manager reading forty resumes is sorting them into hit and did not hit before they read anything else.

Territory and segment, not just a title

'Sales Representative' means nothing on its own. Six states, SMB accounts under 200 employees, inbound plus self-sourced - that tells a reader whether your experience transfers to their patch.

Pipeline as well as closed revenue

Closed numbers show the past; pipeline generated, meetings booked and coverage ratio show you can do it again somewhere new. Both belong on the page.

ATS friendly

Single column, standard headings, no photo, no charts or tables. Sales teams run high-volume applicant tracking, and a quota buried inside a graphic simply does not get parsed.

Profile

Sales representative profile summary

Four lines: years selling, what you sell and to whom, your attainment record, and the stack you run on. The reader decides here whether to book a screen, so the summary carries your strongest number rather than an adjective.

If you are new to sales, build the same paragraph from transferable proof: retail or hospitality targets you beat, a phone-heavy support role, a college fundraising campaign with a dollar figure. Quantify it exactly as a quota carrier would.

WeakMotivated and results-driven sales professional with excellent communication skills and a proven track record of exceeding expectations. Seeking a challenging sales role with a growing company.
StrongSales Representative with 5 years selling facility supplies to mid-market accounts across a 6-state Midwest territory. Averaged 114% of quota over 11 of 12 quarters, grew territory revenue from $1.1M to $1.7M, and self-sourced 45% of closed business. Salesforce and Outreach daily, MEDDIC qualification, ramped to full quota in 4 months.
Tip
Write attainment as a percentage plus the quota it was measured against. '118% of quota' means little until the reader knows whether the number was $250K or $2.5M.
Skills

Sales representative skills for a resume

A CRM, a prospecting motion, a qualification framework, and the vocabulary of the segment you sell into. Every line here should survive the question 'walk me through a deal where you used that'.

Hard skills

  • CRM ownership: Salesforce, HubSpot Sales Hub or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales - stages, next steps, close dates kept current
  • Outbound prospecting: cold calling, sequenced email, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, referral sourcing
  • Sales engagement platforms: Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo.io
  • Qualification frameworks: MEDDIC, BANT, SPIN or Sandler applied to real opportunities
  • Pipeline management: coverage ratio, stage conversion, weighted forecast, aging deal cleanup
  • Territory and account planning: whitespace mapping, tiering, call cycles, route planning
  • Quoting and contracting: pricing approvals, proposal writing, DocuSign, purchase order follow-through
  • Product demonstrations and in-person presentations to buying groups
  • Negotiation and objection handling: price, incumbent vendor, timing, procurement
  • Reporting: ZoomInfo or similar data sourcing, forecast submission, activity metrics against plan

Soft skills

  • Discovery questioning that finds a business problem, not just a budget
  • Resilience through a cold call block and a run of no responses
  • Reading a buying committee and finding the person who signs
  • Keeping a long cycle alive without becoming noise in the inbox
  • Honest forecasting, including calling your own deal down
  • Working with service, support and operations after the sale closes
  • Time discipline across prospecting, active deals and existing accounts
  • Taking coaching from ride-alongs and call reviews without defensiveness
  • Writing short follow-up emails a busy buyer will actually read
  • Learning a technical product well enough to answer without escalating every time
Experience

How to write sales representative experience

Formula: quota plus attainment plus what you sold plus how you sourced it. Under each job header put the territory, the segment, the average deal size and the quota, then let the bullets carry results.

Do not hide a hard year. A rep who writes '92% of quota in a year the category contracted, top of a team of 9' reads as credible, where an unbroken run of impossible numbers invites suspicion in the reference check.

Weak- Responsible for selling company products to customers in assigned territory and building relationships with clients.
Strong- Carried a $1.4M annual quota across 6 Midwest states in the mid-market segment and finished at 114% average attainment over 3 years, self-sourcing 45% of closed revenue through cold outreach and existing-customer referrals.
What to include
Quota value - attainment percentage - ranking on the team - territory and segment - average deal size and cycle length - pipeline generated - ramp time - CRM and stack.
Education

Education and certifications

Most sales representative postings ask for a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and plenty of strong reps have neither a business degree nor a marketing one. List the degree, school and graduation year without a GPA once you have a few years of quota history - the numbers above it are doing the work. Sales training is the part worth naming, because it tells a manager what language you sell in.

  • Degree, institution and graduation year - GPA only if you graduated recently and it is strong
  • Sales methodology training: Sandler, Challenger, Miller Heiman Strategic Selling, SPIN Selling
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator, if you have genuinely configured rather than only used it
  • HubSpot Academy certifications in sales software or inbound sales
  • Manufacturer or vendor product certifications relevant to what you sell
  • Driver's license and clean record for outside and field roles that require travel
  • Employer sales academies and onboarding programs, named with the program title
Careful
Do not pad this section with a long list of free online badges. One recognised methodology and one platform certification carry more weight than eight certificates of attendance.
Entry level

Sales representative resume with no sales experience

Entry-level sales hiring screens for coachability and tolerance for rejection, and both can be evidenced from non-sales work. A shift where you beat an attachment target, a call center role with a handle-time and satisfaction score, a summer job selling anything door to door - these are quota stories in different clothing.

Build the resume around numbers you actually own, then show you have started learning the craft. A free HubSpot inbound sales certification, a Salesforce trailhead profile, and the ability to name a qualification framework in an interview put you ahead of applicants who wrote 'hardworking' six times.

  • Any target-carrying job written with the target and the result, including retail and hospitality
  • Customer-facing metrics: calls per day, satisfaction scores, renewal or retention rates
  • One finished sales certification - HubSpot inbound sales or a Salesforce Trailhead track
  • Campus or volunteer fundraising with the dollar amount raised against the goal
  • Willingness to start in an SDR or inside sales seat, stated plainly in the summary

Mistakes

Common mistakes

No quota anywhere on the page

A sales resume without a quota number is a job description. If your employer never set one formally, write the revenue you were accountable for and say how it was measured.

Percentages with no base

'Grew territory 300%' from a standing start of two accounts is not what the reader imagines. Give the before and after figures and the percentage stops sounding like a trick.

Reading like a sales manager resume

Coaching, hiring and forecast roll-up belong on a sales manager resume. For an individual contributor role they suggest you want a different job, and recruiters route the file elsewhere.

Hiding the territory and segment

Enterprise and SMB are different jobs. So are a dense metro patch and six rural states. Leaving that out forces the reader to guess, and guesses go against you.

Ignoring CRM hygiene

Every manager has inherited a pipeline full of stale deals with no next step. Saying explicitly that you kept stages, close dates and next steps current is a differentiator, not filler.

Job hopping left unexplained

Sales has real churn, but four employers in three years needs a one-line reason on the page: territory eliminated, company acquired, product sunset. Silence reads worse than the truth.

Takeaways

Takeaways

Remember

  • Quota value and attainment percentage in the summary
  • Territory, segment and average deal size in every job header
  • Pipeline generated as well as revenue closed
  • Ramp time stated, because it predicts your next ramp
  • CRM and prospecting stack named in the job's own words
  • One page under ten years, no photo, no graphics

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

A sales representative resume is built on a personal number: your quota, your attainment, your pipeline, your accounts. A sales manager resume is built on a team number: quota for the group, percentage of reps at plan, hiring and ramp, forecast accuracy, territory design. Mixing the two makes both weaker. If you are applying to individual contributor roles, keep coaching and onboarding to a single supporting line and let closed revenue lead.
Write the real figure and the context around it in the same bullet: attainment, where you ranked on the team, and what moved. '96% of a $1.6M quota, second of eight reps, in the year our largest account was acquired' is a stronger line than an unexplained gap. Hiring managers have all carried a number and they check references. A believable miss beside three strong years reads as honesty, which is exactly what they are screening for.
Yes. Inside sales is measured on activity and velocity, so lead with calls and emails per day against target, meetings booked, connect rates, cycle length and the engagement stack you run - Outreach, Salesloft or Apollo.io on top of the CRM. Outside sales is measured on coverage and relationships, so lead with the geography, accounts visited per week, distributor or channel partners, trade shows and in-person presentation work. Same history, different order.
None. Base, commission and on-target earnings belong in the recruiter conversation and the application form, not on the document. To set your own expectation, read current postings for your metro, segment and product type, since pay varies enormously between transactional and complex sales. What reliably raises the rate is the same everywhere: a longer unbroken attainment record, larger average deal size, selling into a regulated or technical buyer, self-sourced pipeline rather than inbound-only, and experience with the buying committee your target employer sells to.
One page for under ten years of experience. Sales resumes get skimmed faster than most because the reader is hunting for a single number, and a second page usually means a list of responsibilities rather than results. If you genuinely have a long history, compress the oldest roles into a two-line block and keep the detail on the last three.
Yes, and put them near the top rather than in a footer. Ranking is the most efficient credibility signal on a sales resume: 'ranked 2 of 34 reps nationally' says more in seven words than a paragraph of adjectives. Name the award as the employer named it, give the year, and say the size of the field you were ranked in. If your company had no such program, use any internal ranking you can substantiate.
Tie it to a result. Not 'maintained Salesforce records', but that you cleaned a territory of 400 stale opportunities, brought forecast accuracy within a stated range of actuals, or made handover to your replacement possible without a single lost deal. Managers care about CRM discipline because it drives forecast, so express it in forecast terms.
